Yours.

By Abigail Gilbert

Waking up in the morning, waking up next to you
Maintaining entangled as we lie, one rhythm as hearts beat in time
Leaving marks on once innocent skin, you keep asking for a sign
Labrinyths form what we decide, deep breaths as fingers intertwine, only for the night you’re mine.

Hide and seek from wandering eyes, stay quiet in the daylight
Kissing scars that threaten tears, you’ll never find what’s buried deeper
Tiptoe and whisper under the sun, the unbreakable pattern of what we’ve become
Desperate for your touch, scarred by loves I’ve lost by loving too much

And yet it sets, as gold fills the sky, count the minutes we spend apart, deepen the lie
Lying in your bed, a voice telling me its wrong
Fingers trace your chest as we ignore a love song
I breathe in, what you breathe out
Your world keeps spinning when I’m not around
