By Sophie Cassarino
I went outside
the bedroom
to see
the full moon
of my stomach
a pale white planet
no hope of defense
dressed in scars like trellises
Magnificent.
I stood aloof
unnaturally
with neck craned
and skull bent
uncomfortably
and pondered long its
pugnacious history
inspirative prowess
but not for me
because I
again
am ready to begin anew
again
to shed the scars and slabs of pains
piecewise remove and so revive
until nothing of old remains
again
and return once more
slow and sure
into a better being
full and pure
Magnificent.
and be ashamed enwrapped in scars again
and labor to linger again in darkness
